Blend the tomatoes and onion: Pulse the tomatoes, garlic, and onion in a blender or food processor. Prepare the soup base (swipe up for the step-by-step).
Add the homemade tomato sauce and broth: You’ll add the blended tomato sauce and broth to the vegetables and mix well. You can use whatever broth you prefer.
Simmer and make some meatballs. Bring the soup and broth to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer and cover. Allow to simmer before adding meatballs.
