Soak your rice. You don't have to soak your rice over night, but it needs to soak for several hours. Then drain and rinse and transfer to a large piece of cheesecloth.
Prepare your steamer and steam your rice until the grains become translucent. Be sure to cover the rice with a tight-fitting lid, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
