Guacamole Recipe (Fresh, Easy & Authentic)

In a medium mixing bowl use a fork to mash together the avocado with the lime juice and salt until desired consistency is reached (smooth versus chunky).
Mix in the diced onion, tomatoes, garlic, cilantro, and fresh ground black pepper. Stir to combine and season with additional salt, pepper, and lime juice, to taste.
Yield: When made with 5 large Hass avocados, this guacamole recipe will make approximately 3½-4 cups of guacamole. This is enough for 6-8 people as an appetizer with tortilla chips.
I like to make this recipe with large Hass avocados. If you can only find small avocados, add 1 or 2 more. Avocados are ripe when they give just slightly when they are squeezed between the palm of your hand. They should not be rock hard or mushy. Read all my tips in the full post!
The best way to store leftover guacamole so that it doesn't turn brown is to transfer leftovers to an airtight container and cover with about 1/2-inch of cold water. Seal with a tight-fitting lid and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
