Yield: This recipe makes 24 teaspoons (8 tablespoons or ½ cup). Easily scale the recipe up or down as desired.
Salt Note: I intentionally made this blend pretty salty. It's great as an all-purpose rub and excellent at seasoning things like meat, beans, rice, or veggies. Consider adjusting/reducing the salt if you're using it in recipes that already contain salty ingredients or you're following a low-sodium diet.
How Much Should You Use? This varies from person to person, but here’s how much seasoning I’ll typically add to various dishes:
- Rice: 2 teaspoons per 1 cup dry rice
- Beans: ½-1 teaspoon per 15-ounce can or 1½ cups cooked
- Meats: 2 teaspoons per 1-pound of meat
Storage Tips: Store in an airtight glass jar or spice container with a tight-fitting lid. Avoid plastic if possible, as it can absorb odors and flavors. Best used within 3 months for best flavor and aroma, although it can last for up to 6 months when stored properly.
