For the Air Fryer Wings

For the Buffalo Sauce (or use store-bought)

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 370°F. Lightly spray the basket of a 3-quart (or larger) air fryer with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Pat the wings very dry with paper towels, then season with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  • Place the wings in the basket in a single layer so they do not touch (cook in batches if needed). Cook for 10 minutes, then flip. Continue to cook for an additional 8 minutes, then flip again.
  • Increase the air fryer temperature to 400°F and cook skin-side up for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the skin looks golden and crispy.
  • While the wings cook, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Whisk in the hot sauce, vinegar, and garlic powder and warm just until smooth.
  • Transfer the hot wings to a large bowl. Pour about 3/4 of the sauce over the wings and toss to coat. Serve immediately with the remaining sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Doneness: Wings are best when the internal temperature reaches at least 170°F (juicier meat and crispier skin).
Sauce timing: For the crispiest wings, toss with buffalo sauce right before serving. The longer wings sit in sauce, the softer the skin becomes.
Store-bought shortcut: You can absolutely use your favorite store-bought buffalo wing sauce instead of homemade.
Reheating: Reheat in an air fryer at 375°F for 2 to 4 minutes, or in a 400°F oven for about 5 minutes, until hot and crisp.
Frozen wings: Air frying from frozen works, but they release more moisture and will be a little less crispy. For best results, thaw and pat dry first. If cooking from frozen, start at 400°F for 6 minutes to thaw, break apart, season, then continue cooking as directed.
