While wandering the streets of Italy,
I discovered a new obsesssion-
windows and doors.
I don’t know what it is about them,
but they have quickly become one of my favorite things to photograph.
Perhaps it’s their bright colors,
and unique detail,
drawing me in,
and forcing me (with little struggle) to fall in love.
Whatever the reason,
I can’t complain.
Sometimes, in this life, it is the little things.
This new found appreciation has inspired a new series on this little blog of mine-
windows and doors…
Whenever I travel somewhere new,
I will share these gateways, openings, and in some cases, works of art, with all of you.
I decided to start with my own village here in Germany-
Benediktbeuern.
And, perfect timing.
Summer in Bavaria means flowers,
and lots and lots of color!
anyone else share this obsession?

I love how much more character doors and windows have in Europe! I just moved to a new village here in France and each evening a take a little stroll looking around at all of the different ones 🙂
Those blue and white striped shutters are fantastic!

Lovely! Windows (especially in Europe) have so much character and appeal. It is amazing how something so simple can be so altering to the appearance of an entire house. Your pictures are great 🙂

I love Italian doors! Every door looks different. I spent hours looking at doors in Venice.

Windows and doors are a favorite of mine too – especially when I'm in Europe (in the US they are typically boring.)

This is perfect! I have way too many photos of doors and windows from our trip to Europe. Germany is just so cute. I apparently also have a thing for lamps and lights. There were lots of those photographed too :S

I'm obsessed with doors as well. I wish I could paint my front door, but they all have to look the same in the complex blah! Lovely pictures.

I think Europeans dress their windows and doors up a lot more than Americans. I never found myself admiring them back at home. True story: I stopped to take a picture of a cute door in Venice. A man stopped to wait for me to take my shot…then immediately entered the building through said door. He probably thinks I'm a creeper.
