This Cherry Bourbon Milkshake with Espresso has been sponsored by Oregon Cherry Growers, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pacific Coast Producers. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Creamy delicious Cherry Bourbon Milkshake with bold espresso, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream. Enjoy this luscious dessert cocktail all year-round and always with an extra cherry on top.

Cherry Bourbon Milkshake Recipe with Espresso

I am so excited to partner with the Oregon Cherry Growers to bring you guys two delicious cocktail recipes inspired by Royal Harvest Bordeaux Maraschino Cherries. Today’s recipe is this luscious cherry bourbon milkshake with espresso – a perfect combination of sweet vanilla ice cream mixed with fruity cherries, boozy bourbon, and robust espresso. My absolute favorite dessert cocktail, the ingredients are super simple and it’s ready in just 5 minutes. You will love it.

Bowl filled with Royal Harvest Bordeaux Maraschino Cherries

Ingredients in this Cherry Bourbon Milkshake

  • Chocolate syrup
  • Royal Harvest Bordeaux Maraschino Cherries
  • Coffee or espresso
  • Bourbon
  • Ice cream
  • Milk (optional)

The ingredient list is super simple so each one is super important. For the full list and amounts of ingredients, scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of the page.

Can I skip the chocolate syrup? Of course. In fact, the chocolate syrup in this recipe is used as more of a decoration than a must-have ingredient. That said, if you love chocolate, feel free to add as much chocolate syrup as you’d like.

Can I use other types of cherries?

Absolutely. This recipe is delicious with all types of cherries including fresh cherries (don’t forget to remove the pit first) or red maraschino cherries. I especially love Royal Harvest Bordeaux Maraschino Cherries, however, as they taste most like extra-sweet fresh cherries, are shelf-stable, and are available year-round.

Can you use any alcohol besides bourbon? Absolutely. Feel free to add your favorite coffee liquor, vanilla vodka, rum, or even tequila.

Royal Harvest Bordeaux Maraschino Cherries

There are so many reasons to love Royal Harvest Bordeaux Maraschino Cherries – aside from their amazing taste!

Harvested by independent Family Farms in the Pacific Northwest, these Oregon-grown cherries,

  • Contain no artificial ingredients
  • Are naturally flavored
  • Packaged without preservatives
  • Taste like fresh bing cherries

Blending up and adding to your favorite ice cream milkshake is just one way to enjoy these delicious Bordeaux Cherries. Add them to your favorite cocktail or mocktail, salads, or smoothies. They’re easy to use and require zero prep time.

What are Bordeaux Cherries? The Bordeaux Cherry is a natural alternative to the classic bright-red maraschino cherry you’re probably most familiar with. Unlike the classic bright-red version, Bordeaux Cherries,

  • Contain 40% fewer ingredients just sugar, fruit and vegetable concentrate to enhance the color and natural almond-based flavor
  • Contain natural color and flavor – no FD&C Red#40
  • Have zero preservatives
  • Are made with non-GMO cane sugar

But even if you don’t care about all of that, the taste (and texture) of Bordeaux cherries compared to classic cherries is like night and day.

How to Make this Bourbon Cherry Coffee Milkshake

  1. Drizzle approximately 1-2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup on the inside of each glass. Start at the top, near the rim, and allow the chocolate syrup to drizzle down the sides to the bottom. Transfer your glasses to the freezer to chill.
    • Note – simply add the chocolate syrup to the blender with the other ingredients if you prefer a more chocolatey milkshake.
  1. Add the Bordeaux Cherries with the stems removed (add more or less to suit your own personal taste and preference), cherry juice, freshly brewed coffee or espresso, and bourbon to the bowl of your blender. Pulse until the cherries are chopped into small bits.
  2. Add the ice cream. Blend until smooth. If you prefer a more liquid milkshake, add milk until desired consistency is reached.
  3. Pour your Cherry Bourbon Milkshake into your chilled glasses and garnish. Best when enjoyed immediately.

Optional Garnishes:

  • Whipped cream
  • Chopped nuts
  • Chopped chocolate chips
  • Cherry juice
  • Royal Harvest Bordeaux Maraschino Cherries
